You may be better off with a basic P&S camera, as they at least have true zooms, and may even shoot 4K.Īnd some form of stabilisation is often useful. That's stretching things a lot just for a bullet point).

(And it gets 45MP stills from a 14MP sensor. If you could shoot in 4K you could zoom and reframe a little in editing, but that camera doesn't really shoot 4K either. The zoom on that camera is digital only, it is basically a repackaged action cam (ie, fixed lens, Panasonic sensor and Novatek SoC). So I find a great many cameras on ebay - all the way from tiny 'spy cameras' via webcams and dashcams and whatever all the way to dedicated video cams.Ĭonfusing for people like me who're not in the business. But my camera can't zoom while filming and the way the boy wants the vids to be done we really need to zoom. It is that last one alone that makes me want a dedicated video camera otherwise I'd use my camera. I need a cheap video camera for some simple videos of my son intended to go up on his Youtube channel.Ībout all we need, I think, is acceptable resolution and audio, battery life, reliability and ability to zoom during the filming.
